2021-07-11 Breccia Peak

Distance: 10.7 mi.
Elevation Gain: 4700 ft.

I had been eyeing a trip up Breccia for a little while and Matt happened to suggest it…so we were off to the mountain loop highway bright and early. We arrived at the trailhead and were hiking by 6:15 AM. Matt and I hike quick together and before we knew it we were at Bingley Gap. We slowed it down from here and made our way past the Round Lake trail and then left the trail to head up to Sunup Lake.

This small lake basin was quite nice and still pretty frozen over but the south facing slopes we had to travel up were mostly melted out. We just went up whatever looked to be lowest angle slopes up to the south ridge. We arrived at the top right around 9 AM.

We spent almost an hour at the top in the amazingly nice weather enjoying a breakfast and beer. It didn’t take us long to backtrack back down as we had come. We were back at the car by 12:15 and had half weekend day available to us back in town!
