2016-10-02 Dock Butte

Distance: 3.9 mi.
Elevation Gain: 1600 ft.

We had a nice weather window so Craig agreed to do a hike that I had been wanting to do. We got started at the Blue Lake Trailhead at 12 PM and signed in at the register. At the trail split with the Blue Lake Trail, we turned right onto the Dock Butte Trail. Compared with other parts of the country, the Pacific Northwest might not be known for its fall colors, but the blueberry bushes along this hike were very bright and charming. We got plenty of exercise, gaining 1600 ft in 2 miles.

We reached the top of this short and sweet hike after one hour at 1 PM. We enjoyed the 360 degree views and closeup shot of Baker over lunch, and then reversed course.

We finished up at 2:20 PM. This is a great, short hike with loads of views!
