We stopped in Salt Lake City on our road trip to Wyoming for some brunch and a quick climb up Malans Peak, one of the most popular climbs in the area. We parked in a residential area to reach the trailhead. After a half mile or so of flatish hiking on criss-crossing trails, we reached the base of the climb which headed up at a steady rate at 2000 feet over 2 miles. We started at 10 AM, reached the summit at 11:30 thanks to our light daypacks, and returned to the car at 12:30 PM. Unfortunately the views out toward Salt Lake were pretty hazy, but I can see why this accessible and heart-pumping hike is so popular!
